Understanding Email Campaigns

Email campaigns are one of the most effective ways to communicate with your subscribers at scale. Instead of sending messages one by one, a campaign allows you to send a targeted email to a specific group of contacts.

Using email campaigns helps you reach many subscribers quickly while keeping your communication organized and measurable. You can design your message using templates, choose exactly who should receive it, and track how people interact with your email. These insights help you understand what works best so you can improve future communications and build stronger relationships with your audience.

Transpond supports several types of campaigns to match different goals. You can send standard campaigns, run A/B tests to compare different versions of a message, or create automated campaigns that send when a specific event occurs, such as when someone subscribes to your list. These options help you deliver timely, relevant messages while saving time and reducing manual work.

Whether you are sending a newsletter, welcoming new subscribers, or testing which subject line performs better, email campaigns help you stay connected with your audience and consistently deliver information they care about.

What is an Email Campaign?

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish with your subscribers, there are different types of email campaigns you can choose to send.

  • Standard Email Campaigns allow you to select subscribers manually and email them one time for a specific purpose. This is common for standard newsletter emails, announcements and promotions. For more details, we have a [step-by-step guide on Sending a Standard Email Campaign] TODO.
  • A/B Split Tests are used for sending two variants of the same campaign with slight changes, in order to see how one performs over the other. This type of campaign allows you to send both versions out to recipients, and track the results of how both perform with your subscribers. Find out more on [how to send an A/B Split Test Campaign here] TODO.
  • Automation Campaigns let you create a campaign that will be sent automatically once a certain condition that you establish has been met. For instance, you can create a campaign to send whenever a new subscriber joins your list, on the anniversary of a specific date or when a subscriber visits a page on your website. These campaigns can be a powerful way to save time and stay in touch with your subscribers automatically.

Separate from Email Campaigns there are Social and SMS Campaigns, which we have more info about in their own dedicated help sections. TODO

Why send an email campaign?

Email campaigns are one of the most versatile tools in your marketing toolkit. Whether you're nurturing an existing audience or reaching out to new contacts, there's a type of campaign to suit almost every goal. Here's a look at some of the most common reasons businesses use Transpond to send email campaigns.

Regular marketing content

Keeping your audience engaged between purchases or sign-ups is one of the most valuable things email can do. A regular newsletter or update keeps your brand front of mind, builds trust over time, and gives your subscribers a reason to stay on your list. This might be a weekly roundup, a monthly digest, or simply sharing content your audience will find useful.

Product updates

When you ship something new, email is one of the most direct ways to let people know. Product update emails work well because they're going to an audience that has already shown interest in what you offer. Keep them focused and clear: tell people what's new, why it matters, and how to get started.

Promotional campaigns

Time-limited promotions, like a Black Friday sale, a seasonal discount, or a special offer for loyal customers, are a natural fit for email. Because your list is made up of people who've opted in, promotional emails tend to perform well when they're relevant and not overdone. Make sure the offer is clear, the deadline is prominent, and the call to action is easy to follow.

Brand awareness

Not every email needs to sell something. Campaigns that tell your brand's story, share your values, or highlight the people behind your business help build a stronger connection with your audience. Over time, this kind of content can be just as valuable as a promotional push.

Blog and content distribution

If you're producing articles, guides, videos, or other content, email is a great way to make sure it gets seen. Rather than waiting for people to find it organically, a content campaign sends it directly to the people most likely to find it useful and drives traffic back to your site.

If you already have a blog then you can [use Transpond's RSS blocks] TODO to automatically send out new blog content as it updates on your blog.

From time to time you may need to communicate important information to your contacts, such as changes to your terms and conditions, updates to your privacy policy, or other compliance-related notices. Email campaigns give you a reliable, documented way to reach your entire list with this kind of communication.

If this is something your business does regularly, we recommend that you [create a separate Group] TODO in Transpond for legal updates, to make sure that even if someone unsubscribes from a newsletter, they will still receive these updates.

Cold email outreach

Cold emailing means reaching out to contacts who haven't previously engaged with your brand, and it requires a different approach to standard marketing campaigns. It works best when the message is highly targeted, genuinely relevant to the recipient, and respectful of their time. Always make sure your cold outreach complies with applicable laws and regulations in your region.
