Creating Automations
Automations let you perform actions automatically in response to specific events, helping you save time, improve consistency, and deliver more personalised communication to your contacts.
For example, you could automatically:
- Send a welcome email when someone joins a mailing list
- Follow up after a form submission
- Notify your team when a lead is created
- Add contacts to Groups or update their details based on activity
Creating a New Automation
- In Transpond, go to Automations > click Create Automation.
- Choose either:
- From Scratch - build the workflow step-by-step, or
- Template - use a ready-made Automation
- Click Trigger - the trigger defines how contacts join the Automation.
- Click the + icon to add the steps you need for your workflow.
- Once all the steps have been added and defined, you can add an optional Goal Step. Goal steps are important if you want contacts to be able to re-enter the same Automation in the future.
Testing an Automation
Before starting your Automation, it is a good idea to test the workflow and ensure everything is working as expected. To test the Automation, click 'Test', then enter the email address of a contact. The test will bypass the triggers for the Automation.

It can take a couple of minutes for the test contact to appear in the Automation, but once there, the contact will flow through the Automation. Whilst the Automation is in 'Test Mode' it is not possible to edit the Automation.
Once you have finished testing the Automation, click 'Cancel test'.

Any contacts added to the Automation during the test will be removed once you cancel the test. You can now make any required edits or start the Automation.
Starting an Automation
Once you have set up and tested your Automation, click Start Automation to make it live.
If your Automation is triggered when contacts join a Group or Segment, you will need to choose whether the Automation should apply to existing contacts already in the Group/Segment, or only to contacts added after the Automation starts.
If you choose to include existing contacts, it may take a few minutes for all contacts to be added to the Automation, especially for larger Groups or Segments.
