Why are my first campaigns sending slowly?

It can be surprising to find that your first email campaigns take longer to send than expected. This is completely normal. When you first start sending email through Transpond, we temporarily limit your sending speed to help protect your sender reputation and improve deliverability.

These temporary limits give our automated systems time to verify your sending activity while also allowing email providers such as Gmail and Outlook to recognise your new sending patterns. By gradually increasing your sending speed, you reduce the risk of your emails being filtered as spam and give your campaigns the best possible chance of reaching your subscribers' inboxes.

Before you continue

Here's what you need to know:

  • Temporary sending limits apply to all new Transpond accounts.
  • Your sending speed increases automatically after each successful campaign.
  • Most accounts reach full sending speed after five successful campaigns.
  • No action is required from you, this process happens automatically.

Why does Transpond limit sending speeds?

One of our highest priorities is helping every customer achieve excellent email deliverability.

To protect both your reputation and the reputation of everyone sending through Transpond, we monitor new sending activity for signs of spam or other behaviour that could affect email delivery. Rather than allowing a large volume of email to be sent immediately, we temporarily reduce the sending speed of your first few campaigns.

This gives our automated systems time to identify any potential issues before they can affect your sender reputation or the deliverability of other customers using the platform.

If everything looks good, your sending speed automatically increases after each campaign.

Why does sending speed affect deliverability?

When you send email from a new platform, mailbox providers such as Gmail and Outlook see your emails coming from infrastructure that hasn't previously been used to send messages on your behalf.

A sudden increase in email volume from a new sending source can sometimes look suspicious, even when the emails are legitimate. In some cases, this can cause emails to be filtered into spam folders or blocked altogether.

Gradually increasing your sending volume, often called warming up your sending is a recognised email best practice. It gives mailbox providers time to build trust in your sending activity, helping improve inbox placement over time.

By temporarily limiting your sending speed, Transpond automatically follows this best practice for you.

How long do the limits last?

Your sending speed increases automatically after each successful campaign, provided no issues are identified.

Most accounts reach full sending speed after five successful campaigns.

While temporary limits are active, you'll see a notice on the final page of the campaign setup process. Once the notice disappears, your campaigns are being sent at full speed.
